DOT Car-Free Open Streets Earth Day
The City is sponsoring numerous locations throughout the city as car-free days in honor of Earth Day. Brooklyn has the most locations and you can check them all out here. There are also free City Bike rides all day with the code CARFREENYC25.
My children and I did this last year and it was a great way to give back. You’ll also be amazed how many cigarette butts are on the ground once you really start to look!
Downtown Brooklyn has the road by the new playground closed off for the day. There are free workout classes, a kids Bike NY class, and craft activities all day.

There are food pantry, clothing drives, and book drives all organized around this Saturday. In addition, various local clean up efforts for local amenities- Cadman Park, PS8, Hillside Dog, Park, etc.
