Things to Do for Pride Month 2024

Pride Month is more than just the massive parade in downtown Manhattan. There are happenings throughout the city. Here are my Top 5 to do with kids.

1.Montague Open Streets

One on June 2nd, Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights is dedicating all programming to pride month. The image to the right is 3 of my favorite options for kids. Check out the whole schedule.

2. Brooklyn Pride Festival & Parade

The Festival will be set up on 5th Avenue in Park Slope from Union Street to 9th Street on June 8th 11am-4pm. At JJ Byrne there will be a special family fun zone. Enjoy all the activities in the fun zone and/or sign up to march in the parade with the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Sign up here!

3. Branded Saloon Drag Performance

Last year, Branded Saloon had two full days (1pm-8pm) of amazing performances. My kids saw part of Saturday and were absolutely mesmerized. Their stage takes over Vanderbilt, and it is something not to be missed. Sample schedule from last year below! Follow Branded Saloon on Instagram or Vanderbilt Avenue Open Streets for the full schedule once it’s announced.

4. Big Summer Pride Twirl

On January 8th, NYC Parks is throwing an all ages dance party in Brooklyn Bridge Park!

I didnt realize t't realize that NYC Parks threw pride events until I was researching this. Check out the full list here. They highlight kid-friendly ones!

5. Children’s Museum of Manhattan

I’ve never been to the Children’s Museum in Manhattan (is this a mistake—please tell me!). If I’m heading uptown, I seem to pick the Met or AMNH over this every time. Their programming for the month of June looks phenomenal. I’ve got a quick snapshot to the left.endar here.
