Things to do Memorial Day Weekend 2024
1.Visit Naval Ships
Fleet Week has kicked off this week (always reminds me of the Sex and the City Episode)! I think touring the ships parked on piers throughout the 5 Boroughs sounds like a blast.
View the full schedule here.
2.Greenwood Cemetery Concert
Free outdoor concert on Memorial Day. I love the picnic idea too. If the rain holds off, a bike ride there would especially be nice.
Reserve tickets ahead of time here.
3.Enjoy an Open Street
Vanderbilt Avenue Open Streets is Friday 5-10pm, Saturday 12pm-10pm, and Sunday 12pm-5pm.
Park Slope Open Streets is Saturday 11am-10pm.
Dumbo Family Games is Sunday 11am-1pm
4. Celebrate the Opening of NYC Beaches
While it’s not quite swimming weather, it still looks lovely to play in the sand and enjoy the day outdoors!
5. Visit Pier 6 Playground
Pier 6 Playground in Brooklyn Bridge Park is some of the very best. This area can get super hot in July and August so MDW looks to be the perfect time to play in the sand before it gets crazy.
If you’re headed there from Prospect Heights or Park Slope or Boerum Hill, take the B63 bus. It drops off right by the playground and picks up on 5th avenue and Atlantic Avenue!
Enjoy! P.S. I’m trying a new format while I work on the final version of this site? Did you enjoy?
