Things To do: June 28th-30th
Ferry Fun with Teletubbies
Looking for a different type of activity on Friday? This ferry ride in honor of pride is quite the combination! Enjoy the beautiful views and have some fun with teletubbies. This is only on certain ferries so be sure to check the schedule.
Despicable Me Family Day
The Paley Center in Midtown is dedicated to media and has some really fun pop-ups with our children’s favorite characters. For the upcoming Despicable Me release, they are hosting a big soiree. I saw several time slots are sold out so make sure to sign up in advance!
Shakespeare in the Park
There are two different ways to experience this Public Theater rotation in Prospect Park this weekend with your older children. First are live performances of The Comedy of Errors with the “Mobile Unit.” (I’m not entering an internet rabbit hole to find visuals of this mobile unit.). These performances are Thursday & Friday at 6:30pm and Saturday at 5:30pm. Tickets are still available here along with exact performance location.
The second way to enjoy is with a free movie screening of Much Ado About Nothing. The show is at 8pm on Saturday, grab tickets here.
Celebrate pride at the newest dog park in Downtown Brooklyn. I love an excuse to crash a dog meetup and this could be a very strategically timed playground visit. This is on Saturday from 11 am-3 pm at Abolitionist Place. (A new park directly west of the City Point building)
Visit a Public Pool
The city public pools open on June 27th; with this recent heatwave, it can’t happen soon enough!
The two closest pools to Prospect Heights are Douglass and Degraw Pool and Commodore Barry Pool. I visited the Douglass and Degraw pool for the first time last summer and was very impressed by its quality. It also had a nice wading pool for younger children.
Warning: There are a lot of rules for these pools. (Honestly quite helpful to maintain quality.) Make sure to read them ahead of time. I also wrote a recap last year of my experience and some tips; there were even more rules than listed on the site!
